Elevatech Network at Birmingham Tech Week 2026: Opening Doors into Tech
We’re proud to share that Elevatech Network is a Community Partner for Birmingham Tech Week 2026, and that our Convener/Founder will be speaking at the event on Tuesday 20th October.
It’s a big month for our community. Just days before Birmingham, we’ll be celebrating members’ career stories in our Black History Month series, 3 Days 3 Journeys (16th to 18th October). Then we head to the West Midlands to keep the conversation going.
What is Birmingham Tech Week?
From 19th to 23rd October, Birmingham Tech Week brings the West Midlands tech community together to meet, share what they’re learning, and take part in practical conversations about what comes next.
As a Community Partner, we’ll be helping our wider network find useful routes into the week. For our community, it’s a chance to make new connections, hear different perspectives, and learn from people building and supporting technology across the region.
Why this matters to us
Elevatech Network exists to help early-career adopters move into tech and grow once they’re there. Our belief is simple: talent is everywhere, but access isn’t.
According to techUK, up to 70% of UK jobs are never publicly advertised. That means opportunity often travels through people you know. If you don’t have that network yet, it’s easy to be shut out for reasons that have nothing to do with your ability.
That’s the gap we’re working to close, and it’s why this event matters to us.
Our Session: Tech For All
We’ll be giving a 10-minute lightning talk at Tech For All on how organisations can remove barriers to entry and create more pathways into technology careers, so opportunities are open to people from all backgrounds.
We’ll share how Elevatech Network helps people in their careers, what we’ve learned along the way, and what organisations can do to open their doors wider.
